TITLE: Firmware Engineer

LOCATION: West Michigan

SUMMARY: Management Business Solutions is seeking a Firmware Engineer for a confidential manufacturing client located in the West Michigan region. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining embedded software that operates directly on hardware devices such as sensors, imaging systems, and other electronic components. The Firmware Engineer will design, test, and support reliable firmware and system-level software to ensure electronic products perform efficiently and integrate seamlessly with hardware platforms.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain embedded software for hardware products.
  • Work alongside hardware, mechanical, and product teams to make sure the software integrates smoothly with the hardware.
  • Build and improve features that involve sensors, cameras, and wireless connectivity.
  • Test, debug, and troubleshoot embedded systems to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Participate in design discussions, sprint planning, and code reviews to maintain software quality.
  • Contribute to improving development workflows, testing processes, and software reliability.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and assist with technical interviews when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or any relevant field.
  • 2-3 years of hands-on technical experience across the full software development lifecycle.
  • Strong programming skills in C and/or C++.
  • Understanding of hardware-software integration and embedded systems architecture.
  • Experience using development tools (Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, JIRA, Azure DevOps etc.)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Experiences:
  • Experience working with Linux-based embedded systems.
  • Knowledge of camera, video, or audio technologies.
  • Familiarity with wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
  • Experience with modern software development practices used in engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with Agile processes.
